Part 8
Looking up underneath the unit, you will see the connector the AuxMod plugs into. Installation is simple, place the double sided tape on the back of the AuxMod and slide it into place. It doesn’t “click” into place, it just slides into place… be gentle, it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to break. The second picture shows the AuxMod in place.

Part 9
The last part involves the 3.5mm cable that needs to be connected to the AuxMod and to your iPod/MP3 player. There is a small hole in the back of the head-unit enclosure, as shown in the first picture below here. There is a corresponding piece of the AuxMod board missing in order to allow the cable to pass through it.
Plug in one end of the cable to the AuxMod, create a small loop and pass the other end out through the hole. Take that end and pass it back into the space at the back of the head-unit, where it is attached to the speakers, etc. as show in the third picture below. Slowly drop the end of the cable down the back of the console, feeding more cable in until it becomes visible at the area where the shroud was removed in the first steps. Pull through the cable until all of the slack is removed, although not until it is taught.
The cable end needs to come out of somewhere, I found the best place for the cable to come out was from the drink holder. The drink holders are in the shroud removed in the original steps, but they can pop out of the shroud easily enough. Simply remove one, then cut a small slot in the side of one of the drink holders, wide enough for the cable, but not wide enough for the connector on the end; this will ensure the cable doesn’t disappear into the hole. Place the cable in the slot, put the drink holder back in the shroud and leave enough slack that you can move the shroud while you put everything back together.

Once all of that is done, it’s simply a matter of reversing the removal procedure.
- Slide the head-unit carefully back in, ensuring that you don’t “pinch” any of the cables at the back of the unit in the process.
- Put the screw in the side again (you kept it, right?) and tighten it.
- Put the screws in the front recesses in the climate control section.
- Replace the vents at the top of the console.
- Replace the knobs on the front.
- Refit the shroud and put the screws and snaplock thingies back in.
- Put the cover back on underneath the handbrake.
- Enjoy the music!
